Here in the heart of Texas, bridal portraits are a big deal! I have lived in the South pretty much all of my life and I just recently got married! But if you are anything like me, you might wonder, “what’s the big deal with bridals?” “isn’t it a waste of time and money?” “Why not just take them on my wedding day?”
Here’s why I am so glad I ended up having mine taken, and why I think you should consider it too!
Great hair/makeup trial run opportunity
Your hair stylist and makeup artist will appreciate the chance to help you find the look you want and practice for your big day! Once you see how your hair and makeup look in photos for your bridals, you can easily ask them to tweak a few things if you want! Not to mention it’s an excuse to play dress up and feel like a princess.
2.) More time to get amazing photos of your dress
On my actual wedding day, we only had time to take a handful of bridal portraits. We were so focused on getting shots of family, my hubs and I, the ceremony, etc...I would have been sad if those were the only photos of my dress I received! I am so glad we took the extra time before the wedding to create beautiful shots that made me feel gorgeous and will last a lifetime! That leads me to my next point...
3.) Bridal portraits are a HUGE Confidence booster
This is the biggest reason I’m happy I had mine taken! Who else out there struggles with body image? I know I’m not the only one! Worries about my nose or how my dress would look in pictures or poses all seemed to fade away once I saw my portraits. It made me feel so beautiful! That way on the day of my wedding I wasn’t worried one bit about how I looked. I didn’t feel insecure at all. Not to mention it made me incredibly excited to see my groom at the altar!
Bridal portraits may not be for everyone, but if you just got engaged, I highly recommend you consider asking your photographer about them!
Have a great week!
